Happily Ever After

Tales from the Studio & Road

Notes

Party in the Hills

We rode along the winding Mulholland Drive last night. Past the mansions perched on mountain tops and breathtaking views of Hollywood with my Marshall acoustic Amp clunking around in the trunk and mic stands rolling back and forth across my Martin guitar case, my brother riding shot-gun.

I love to see how other people live. I like to imagine what it would be like to have my own compound with guest houses for my friends – and a sweet recording studio out back.

(Reade (percussion), Jeremy, Jess, Matt after the gig)

The party was a fundraiser for a friend’s short film. The fabulous Matt “Pucky” Puckett played a cool cover of a Prince song and then one of his songs called, “James” which is one of my favorites that he plays live.

We performed “Hold On” which isn’t officially released yet but we slipped onto my MySpace page under-the-radar or on iTunes if you want to take a listen.

The acoustic version we play live seems to be going over really well! We might track it that way also. I also played “In The Dark” which is unreleased but I posted in an earlier blog with a  live-performance video.

Last up was good friend Jeremy Silver. He played “Bigger Man,” which is also one of my favorite songs of his.  Jeremy has this style that’s so sweet and honest – and a great voice to carry it. His lyrics really pull you in.

I am blessed to have such talented friends.

….And how could I have almost forgotten? The Sklar Brothers did an awesome impromptu comedy routine as well at the party. Those guys are seriously funny!  Check out their site to see what those guys are up to. I’m such a fan!

….And here’s a pick from that “Cayman Went” premiere with composer Randy Lee.
